Thinking of growing some carrots in containers -as have had little success in the garden (soil too stoney -I think) or at the allotment (soil too heavy).
Not sure how deep the container should be.
Lettuce is another new one for me -so far I've sowed in pots and will be transplanting outside depending on the rain.

Yes- I've read about this -but how long should the pipe lengths be - I might try some seeds this way - that's if it stops raining - only have the weekend free b4 back to work.
Thanks

Hi, we have an allotment and one of our neighbours grows his carrots in pieces of pipe. Just sinks the pipe into the ground and fills up with compost before planting seed. He gave us a couple last year and I'm not kidding I've never tasted a carrot as good. (might sound like I'm being rude but honest I'm not. Anyway we've managed to get some pipe lengths and will be having a go this year.
